Environment is very important both to the known German top shooter Sonja Pfeilschifter and to the management of the Kurt Thune factory. For this reason the company have chosen to work with Anne Linnonmaa who is one of Finland’s most famous designers and one of the world first pioneers in ecological design. Among other awards Anne has been awarded the following Finnish design prizes: Fashion Designer of the Year 1999, the Golden Hanger 2003, Finland’s Woman of the Year 2006 and the Woman Entrepreneur of Helsinki 2006 Award. She is working also as a teacher and as a consult in ecological design.

According to a study 2007 by the Environmental Justice Foundation (www.ejfoundation.org) in collaboration with Pesticide Action Network UK (www.pan-uk.org): "Cotton is considered the world's 'dirtiest' crop due to its heavy use of insecticides, the most hazardous pesticide to human and animal health. Cotton covers only 2.5% of the world's cultivated land yet uses 16% of the world's insecticides, more than any other single major crop."

The materials used in the Sonja X.9 Collection are unpoisonous organic cotton. They are hand picked and biologically grown. The materials are licensed according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) www.global-standard.org by the Swiss Institute for Marketecology (IMO) www.imo.ch. IMO is one of the first and most renowned international agencies for inspection, certification and quality assurance of eco-friendly products.

Environmental problems affect the live of all peoples on the globe. Every human being can do something to contribute to keep our planet in better shape for future generations. Ecologically grown cotton is more durable than other types of cotton and extracts fewer chemicals when washed, too.

The Sonja X.9 Collection consists of a piquet shirt for ladies in black and optical white. Men’s piquet shirt in optical white, navy blue and burgundy red colours. A unisex T-shirt in optical white and black. All models have X.9 (to be red: ’10.9 and I feel fine’) logo on front left and KT logo in the neck.
